Dear Sameh, there are two ways to express parts per million (ppm): in milligrams of solute per kilogram of solution (mg/kg) or per liter of solution (mg/L). The last one is the most used, and as Sabry Abdallah pointed out, it can also be expressed as ug/mL. But I am afraid that with the data you have given us it is not possible to calculate this concentration exactly without the final volume of solution. Let me explain: when dissolving 0, 5 g of the powder in 1 mL of water, the final volume of solution will be greater than 1 mL. Can you measure that volume in any way?
In any case, the calculation is as follows:
ppm = 0.5 g x (0.14 g / 100 g) x (1000 mg / 1 g) / V
Where:
- 0.5 g x (0.14 g / 100 g): grams of the active ingredient.
- (1000 mg / 1 g): factor to convert grams to milligrams.
- V: final volume of solution in liters.
Postscript: without V an exact calculation can be made but in mg/kg.
