I want to know why extact by mask function changes or makes the x and y components same by default. I have used the function for different products raster files. Every time the extract by mask function makes the resolution same from different (x, y) resolution.
You can go to Envirmonments and change setting for the XY resolution where you can specify 2.5 and 2. But better approch is to keep the cell size same with similar XY diamensions.
Some (most?) ArcGIS functions require the cell dimensions to be square. I second Nadeem's recommendation about resampling to make the raster square instead of rectangular.
Nadeem Fareed i checked the environments but there is only one coordinate option; either x or y. On the other hand if i keep the same (x y) coordinates then the pixels are shifting from their previous geospatial positions. Please tell me another method.
Shafqat Ali cell size can be controlled by going in environment setting and raster analysis.. and cell size then choose original raster..
Suraj Shah in raster analysis, i have only one option for a cell size either 2 or 2.5, means a single digit, but my requirement is 2.5*2=x*y.
Shafqat Ali brother.. arcgis deal rectangular pixel by converting them into square pixel( by default..output pixel width will be width of rectangular pixel) , however you can do resampling later ..
Suraj Shah i have compared rectangular pixel map and square pixel map, the pixels have displaced in the later one, this is due to by default setting. So, i can not use extract by mask or clip option right now.
