I was recently dismissed from medical school because I failed the final exam before taking the USMLE. I hadn't ever failed a class or an exam. I made straight A's in clinicals, B's in labs, and all C's in the fundamental of science coursework. I have been denied readmission as a transfer student to another medical university. My question is what option do I have with my career. I have spent 23 years to get to where I am now and legal issues kept me from being readmitted a second time. I am over qualified for any menial job I apply for and lack qualifications to gain job in healthcare because of 1. the pending charges and 2. I am overqualified for job I apply. The charges are Aggravated Family Assault. It happened during one of thousands of arguments between my sister and I and because I was the man in the house I was the one arrested and this completely through off my career. What should I do? I desperately need advice.

Have you thought of applying to teach Biology to secondary school students, or Pre-Med?
You immediately reminded me the very best of my Biology teachers, at secondary school. He was the best person for the job. I learnt so much from this man. His story was apparently similar to yours. He had quit Medical studies, shortly before his final exam, and decided to dedicate his life to prepare secondary school students to apply for Medicine...
But he never gave up. He was the sweetest teacher I ever got, and he enhanced my struggle to enter Medical school. Nowadays, I have been practicing Medicine for nearly 30 years, and I, myself, teach Anatomy to first year Medical Students. I will never forget the highly positive influence of that man.
I owe much of my professional success and the love for my profession and for medical research, to this highly qualified young man, who left Medical School without his final diploma.
One can be useful to the Medical Profession through so many different ways.

Very sorry to hear of your situation, but you should remain as calm as you could, because it is not as desperate as your first impression.
Like Maria suggested, the teaching profession is wide open to you.
From what I understand, there is a chance those pending charges will be dropped (and it sounds that you did not fail your exam after all, but the examiners considered the charges and then they failed you). All these can be overturned. (I wish I was a lawyer to help you).
My son attended your university for 1 year, but we pulled him out and he became a successful teacher.
You have reached the top in educating yourself, then something went wrong, a small parenthesis and you will regain the top, because you are a hard worker.
