I did emulsion polymerization using 2-carboxyethyl acrylate as co monomer. When I increased the amount of CEA, particle size increases. I found out that at higher CEA content, particle size is larger. However when I measured acid content using potentiometric titration, the one with high CEA gave highest acid content. I am not really sure what's going on as I expect that high acid content should resulted in smaller particle size?

You do not write anything about the emulsion polymerization stabilizer. He is responsible for the size of the particles. The pH of your dispersion system is a secondary factor that can affect the stabilization and size of the emulsion droplets. With an increase in monomer with a constant amount of stabilizer there will be an increase in particle size, because the stabilizer is not enough for stabilization.
Thank you for the answer. May I ask that would it possible that the increased in particle size is due to lower crosslinker amount and lower amount of MMA (the buiding block monomer)?
