I design a reconfigurable antenna using ring resonator for three different frequencies is 2.4/3.5/5.2 GHz,where at 3.5/5.2 .i got gain is positive but for 2.4Ghz got -2db gain.is it effect of metamaterial or else.please help me.
Usually ring resonator are used to reduce the size of antenna. If the designed antenna has smaller physical size at 2.4 GHz than you may get the lower gain. But also check the simulation environment.
Sir I am getting -2db gain at 2.4GHz frequency and 3.5/5.2GHz geting 1.5db gain using ring resonator for re-configurable antenna.so i wanted to know why i am getting -2db gain only for 2.4GHz frequency.@Vedvyas Jayprakash Dwivedi and Muhammad Saeed Khan
Probably the ring resonator is resonating at 2.4 GHz absorbing considerable amount of power which would otherwise been radiated by the patch. Anyway, before you draw any inference, you must take measurements to be sure.
