There is a distinct difference between the two terms and I like to make it clear for land managers. If you provide definition, do not forget to mention source (citation)
Restoration of degraded rangeland seeks to restore the area to how it was prior to human interaction, where the functions of the previously existing environment are still decipherable and can be returned to their prior state. Rehabilitation seeks to repair damaged rangelands for the benefit of local human population by attempting to discover and recreate a nutrient flow similar to one that may have previously existed in the area. While both approaches seek to repair the ecosystems of rangelands, Restoration focuses on the ecological perspective and Rehabilitation focuses on increasing yield.
