I need to study the difference in drug response in mice at different age groups like young, adult and aged. But I found varied classification of this age groups so I need correct classification ....help in this
In classification methods, knowing the form of the data helps to choose a right classification methods. Since we usually have few information about that, I propose you to check each classifier method on your problem. A software called Weka is created for this purpose. You can download it from below link:
I would start with something logic and then move to more complicated classifiers. Let's assume you derive the survival rate (days) versus age. simply scatter plot survival rate versus age. If there is indeed a correlation you will see it. for example, if older mice have a lower survival rate then you will have a cluster in the right low quadrant. However, for your problem I think there are many solutions derived from medical statistics. your problem is common in pharmacy so you can use the same tools like them.
Dr. Shamprasad - I am not sure if this was what you were specifically asking, but there is a good paper by Schnieder discussing the classification of age groups. I have attached it for you. - Tony
