Getting straight lines in Impedance measurements means that you are measuring the diffusion. To be clearer, the curve shape in Impedance depends on the frequency scanning you are using. For example, if you are scanning in the range of low frequencies, it is probable to only see the straight lines.

Could you please precise the frequency range you are using and if you are operating in a 2 or 3 electrode system? Also, are you applying voltage during the measurements?

Thank you very much Loraine Youssef .I am measuring from 6MHz to 0.03Hz and our instrument can go up to maximum 7MHz.We are here using two electrode system and one more thing I am keeping my sample holder in silicon oil to avoid any volatile behaviour. Can I take readings in presence of air?Does impedance measurements depends on temperature?If depends hoe does it varies.

Thanks for the detailed answer. I suggest that you try doing the measurements from 0.1 MHz (10^5 Hz) to 10 Hz (then to 1 Hz if you still see the semi-circle of charge transfer). Because the diffusion observation (by that I mean the straight lines) usually occurs in the very low frequency range so I think that 0.03 Hz is low enough to only see the line of diffusion. You can try increasing first to 10 Hz and see if you are able to see the charge transfer semi-circle.

And it is good to avoid the volatile behavior but my question is (just to see if I well understood): you mean that your sample is in the holder and that holder is kept in the oil bath, right? Because Impedance is highly affected by temperature and also if you are applying external bias voltage, this is why I asked about your electrode system and if you are putting external voltage while taking the measurements, because this changes everything.
