Hello, I plan to use a hunting camera for monitoring of geomorphological processes on daily basis. My problem is finding a camera that, in addition to motion detection (which I don't need), has the ability to take time-lapse photos. More precisely, I am interested in a model that I could program (time interval) so that it takes a photo once every day at the same time or, for example, every other day at the same time (for example, at the selected hour when I have the most natural light at the location, ). I currently have a camera that can take a photo every 60 minutes which drains the batteries very quickly, especially during cold weather (and produces a lot of not needed photos...). I would appreciate someone with experience recommending a model according to the needs I mentioned; no wifi or mobile connection required but if it can not be avoided not a problem. Thank you.

For most folks, the StealthCam DS4K Ultra (32 MP) is the most excellent trail camera overall. I've been using this camera for a while. The 'No Glow' LED lights on this trail camera are precisely that—they don't glow—and because it was made to withstand bad weather, wildlife won't be scared off by them. In combination with a trigger time of 0.2 seconds and the ability to shoot 4K footage with audio, it's pretty much a no-brainer. Simply put, this is everything you could want from a trail camera. Hi, I also found its surprisingly difficult to find a camera like this particularly because companies dont always state these specifications
Were using hunter basic cameras in Northern Sweden http://www.hunterworld.se/hunter-basic-produktsida/ . These are taking photos every ~3 hrs and last for at least 4 months (i dont remember how long exactly but every time we change the batteries they are reading nearly full so i think they could last longer). The manual also states that you could program them to take a photo every 24hrs. If it gets really cold make sure you use lithium not alkaline batteries. Weve had no problems at -15C.
In the UK we are using vanbar d700 trail cameras which also allow you to select a photo timelapse interval up to 24hrs (i just checked because they dont specify in the manual).
Neither of these have specs as good as the Stealthcam above but are much cheaper! Also consider lens distortion if you are doing SFM or similar with the cameras.

AA lithium batteries last longer than AA alkaline batteries. It is generally preferred in such devices. You can also use a gel battery with a converter that fits into the camera's battery compartment. Such converters are commercially available for cameras using AA batteries. If a 100 Amp gel battery is connected to the camera with this apparatus, it can even save a whole season.
