As far as I understood your question, my humble answer is that sooner or later, children are exposed to the society and all good or bad they know. Well, if they learn about either terrorism, good or bad relationships having good communication and relationship with parents, they would still be in safe hands and at safe side.

Definition of terrorism? The role of the media in terrorism is very old (propaganda by the deed) and debatable. I doubt if the situation is any worse than it always has been, in fact most western societies are probably freer from terror than at any time in their history. I would tend to suggest that inept western interventions in non-western regions are the real problem as regards contemporary terrorism. Reactions to this then play on other tensions (particularly inter-cultural and religious). But get terrorism in perspective, it is a minute problem, even in law and order terms, when compared to other things.
Children that engage in terrorism are drawn into that life due to a variety of reasons. Many join out of necessity, they may feel that becoming a member of a terrorist organization will provide them with a better life, food, shelter, etc. Others are looking for a sense of belonging. Since the mind of a child is not completely developed they are sometimes easily convinced and/or influenced by terrorists to join their ranks and eventually become terrorists themselves. Media is an enabler as many terrorist organizations have very effective media operations and make use of social media that targets youth in some cases. I hope this helps answer your question.
Having taught child development and worked in psychopathology and forensic psychology/psychiatry – it is important to take clinical view –simply put at an individual level - it is values that are adopted due to extreme beliefs – and a world view that is inconsistent with the sociology and/or cultural context. To a great extent these sit as bed heart of fanatic interpretations of life, value of life, others and the role of different individuals in the society -this is aided more when a faith/community adopts and/or accept these. Again keeping in mind, it is not the question of adopting or accepting a plethora views or beliefs, it is as simple as accepting one view and/or promoting a view – this even more elated as children are ego-eccentric and amoral… and cannot introspect values to the extent of expressive and receptive... in this it is not that a view out there i.e., terrorism that comes to influence but rather it is the individual that puts pressure to belong to it - even if be as abstract in its inception... in other words, it is a concern because literature on psychopathology over and over confirms this process as the motivation and then other factors in society maintain it
