I used a frame structure to represent a continuous shell plate and this frame structure was calibrated with a physical model in order to have the same rigidity as the real one. However I was trying to identify how representative would if a change the thick of the frame elements to represent a shell plate.

Modelling continuous plate with equivalent frame element is a simplified and acceptable method, especially if the plate layout is rectangular and orthogonal.
Don't forget to use zero weight material for the equivalent beam model, so the self-weight from plate will not be included twice in load calculation.
Any concrete standard are providing the formula to calculate the equivalent beam width at the column strip.
For irregular plate layout, the simplified model will give inaccurate result, especially for shear stress near column edge.
