An obvious answer is "Not a lot!".

BUT I suspect there is more to your question than I immediately realize. Do you maybe mean "ancient writings" as much as "ancient languages". These might indicate early and different (not necessarily primitive) types of human cognition which might in turn suggest new directions for AI research..?
