Hi everyone, I am trying to view result in Abaqus viewport, but I cannot see any changes at all to the parts when Nlgeom is on, can someone kindly tell me how to view the deformed shape when Nlgeom is on please. By the way , I tried many options such as (Options>Common>Uniform >Value = 1.....10) , I also tried (Plot>Undeformed shape, Deformed Shape >Contours>On both deformed and undeformed) none of show the deformed shapes. I appreciate your help.
The common plot options should show the deformed shape (after you click on the show-deformd-shape-icon). You should check your displacement at a node (tools-query-node) to see how large you need to scale the deformation to see something.
if that is the case, then you need to increase the value to 1000 maybe? if still you dont see the deformation, then there is something wrong with the model? maybe forget to apply the load?
Hello Martin and Ditho , thank you for your kind suggestion, I think I found out how to view the deformed shapes. But I face a different problem now, I am trying to apply bending moment to a continuum element, in my model, which consists of laterally loaded piles in clay, when I apply the bending moment to the reference point that I have created at the tip of my pile, I can see the pile displaces not in a straight line, say in x direction, but it displaces diagonally, do you have any suggestions please ? regards,
How are you prescribing the rotation? Since continuum elements don't have rotation DOFs you'll need to use something like a kinematic coupling constraint to pull this off.

Thanks for your reply. I used Kinematic and structural distribution, I mean I tried both of them, in Kinematic , I only ticked U1,U2 and U3 , in Structural distribution, as you already know we only have UR1, UR2 and UR3, I did not tick any of them, do you think I should prevent the movement in UR2 and UR3 , and free UR1?
