Dear Friends and Colleagues at RG,

I am examining the use of WWIII to find out the " Output of wave spectra along arbitrary tracks " ( https://github.com/NOAA-EMC/WW3/wiki/Output-Options ). My concern is the "wave condition along certain ship routes". For this purpose, I ended up at:

https://polar.ncep.noaa.gov/waves/hindcasts/

Here it seems that the wave information is provided for the past 30 years. In the links some datasets are provided, for instance :

https://polar.ncep.noaa.gov/waves/hindcasts/prod-multi_1.php

ftp://polar.ncep.noaa.gov/pub/history/waves/multi_1

It appears that the data are stored by month. Entering a random folder, four folders will appear, including coll/gribs/partitions/points. What are these folders? What information do they contain? Is there any documentation explaining the use of these hindcasts?

Appreciate very much in advance for your help!

Best regards,

Shukui
