How to use Souders-Brown equation for sizing refrigeration unit accumulator?

We can order commercial products for refrigeration unit accumulators. But for a quite small unit, we often design and make one by ourselves. The question is how to reasonably size the accumulator?

1) The minimum diameter for liquid-vapor separation?

2) The oil bleeding orifice diameter?

3) The ant-siphon orifice diameter?

4) The minimum effective volume?

www.refriglab.com provides a free-of-charge e-Tool, Acc3pS, for refrigeration unit suction line accumulator sizing. The Tool focuses on the vertical type of accumulators with a "U" (or called "J") shaped pipe. Is the horizontal type also widely used for small refrigeration units?
