I am using a HPLC method using a Mobile phase Water and Acetonitrile each consisting 0.1% formic acid. The lyamda Max was 256. It was working properly. However, now it shows unstable base line.

Paras mani Giri , many thanks for your message. What kind of unstable baseline do you observe?
pulsations? (Comment: This might be an air bubble in the pump.)
high frequent (white) noise? (Comment: This might be an air bubble in the UV-cell)
spikes (sharp only one second or less high signals) on the baseline? (Comment: this could be due to an older UV-lamp)
ad 1) purge the pump.
ad 2) flush the UV-cell with iso-propanol (e.g., using a syringe.)
ad 3) replace the lamp.
Any additional information you can give us is a bonus.

Also did you ultrafilter the mobile phase? Is the mobile phase freshly prepared or sitting around a long time?
