I have two groups of different characteristics (e.g. Males and Females, both suffering from a particular illness). Both groups are exposed to same treatment. I want to test :
1. If there is any difference in the recovery rate of each group before and after the treatment.
2. If the improvement in one group (say Males) better or worse than the improvement in other group (Females).
Please suggest what are the different statistical tools fit for this type of study?
There are a number of measures of treatment efficacy that you can use.
1. Cure – overall cure rate measured at a specific time
2. Time to achieve cure
3. Treatment failure – person had to be switched to another treatment
4. Significant reduction in disease severity, where the disease is not actually curable
5. Time to achieve this reduction
6. Disease status on follow up
7. Return to normal activities
8. Improvement in funcion
And more, I guess. It depends on the disease or disorder which is the most useful and relevant and measurable.
