Please, can any one help me with simulating an incremental load test on stone column, what are the phases and loading type to be used, considering the soil is soft clay and the test was carried out after column installation by about a month?
I think I can introduce a simple method. You can apply the displacement at the top of stone column then monitor reaction forces at each point that displacement conditions were given. In this kind of simulation, the proper contact condition (friction in general) between soil and column must be used and also horizontal stress at the soli layer (friction may work with its normal force).
hi..you need a standard hydraulic jack for application of load in incremental form..you increase the load by an increment of any value as per your requirements and keep on taking the vertical compression reading up to the stage at which the movement of column become constant or very minimal i.e. 0.001 mm variation..then, apply the next incremental load and take reading continuously up to the application of maximum design load. Based on the test, plot load - settlement curve for design purposes..ok all the best..
