Maybe your could induce the phase separation either by add an alcohol by destabilization (as Abdelkader suggested) either by a small change in the ionic force of media, add some brine or salt (NaCl), for example.

Thanks for your suggestions. I do separate polystyrene from water by evaporation and then drying as end product required was powder.
