I am currently doing a shallow water simulation to predict the drag, sinkage and trim. I often get wave reflections from boundaries and especially from outlet. I have given one ship length for wave damping. I am using starccm for simulation. My outlet is 5L from aft of ship.

To control the wave reflection in shallow water is not straight forward especially in your case. In deep water and specifically in gravity-capillary waves I have used the damping term of short waves due to the viscous damping at the water surface which was adopted from Lamb (1945). Thanks for your kind answer. I am actually doing a ship CFD simulation to predict the shallow water effects without waves.
