To reduce the effects of global warming, two complementary strategies can be considered on a local scale:
1 - Mitigation of global warming by limiting emissions which consists of:
- revolutionize transport modes;
- save water and energy;
- optimize waste;
- operate the energy transition and develop renewable energies
- promote environmentally responsible management;
- inform and raise awareness.
2 - adaptation of territories to the effects of climate change that imposes:
- the protection of goods and people by developing tools and means to fight against heatwaves, floods, fuel poverty, etc .;
- the maintenance and preservation of the natural heritage (forests, dunes, dikes ...);
- the development of the urban space by renovating buildings (promotion of ecological buildings with low consumption), by developing water sources and green spaces for cooling , etc .
