Dear professors,
Plant ash was generated from the combustion of biomass. It is a oganic-inorganic composites consisted of coals and stones. I wanna convert the coals part and part of nutrient element into fertilizer. However, the large amount of small size silica and mineral may covers over 80% weight of this complex. How to seperate them efficiently regarding the potential economic interests?
I do think it is a chewy problem :)
After combustion, I think what should be expected is that no coal (charcoal) is left. Aren't all fertlizers water soluble (phosphates, nitrates)?

The proportion of SiO2 to the desired minerals in the char depends on the feedstock: the greater the proportion of grasses, especially stems, and rice in particular, the greater the proportion of SiO2.
To me the separation is an engineering question and I'm a chemist.
I would add that the fine SiO2 is likely to be a health hazard
