well encryption is one option, but until schemes like homomorphic encryption become practical and reality , the encrypted data is useless for any operations in the cloud. So if its for long term storage and archival purposes use AES to encrypt the data for confidentiality.
Now, whom do you want the data to be confidential from, co-tenants ? Cloud Provider ? or Both ? If it is just the co-tenants then there might be practical schemes. For example, If you intent to achieve confidentiality such that your data is secure from co-residents (or other tenants of hardware) but you are ok if Cloud provider has access to the data. This case may be practical by simply sharing the key with cloud provider but not any one else, also assuming cloud provider keeps your keys safely
