A positive zebrafish smurf would be one where blue dye can diffuse throughout the entire body due to increased intestinal permeability based on the paper by Martins et al., 2018 (Article How to Catch a Smurf? – Ageing and Beyond…In vivo Assessment...
I have found no smurfs in my assays which absence lack of intestinal permeability, however i am looking to produce a positive control whereby there is presence of intestinal permeability which permits the blue dye to diffuse through.
There are protocols suggested for adults zebrafish such as dietary soybean oil and other inflammatory factors however i can't seem to find any for larval zebrafish.
I could produce micro-perforations in the intestine using fine tungsten wire but wanted to know if there are other alternatives.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
