Seeking any specific treatment to preserve the state of pure NR for my research without letting it to solidify in the long run such as the Latex Solution for Lab testing.
To maintain the "milky" state of NR, add "very" little aqueous ammonia & keep it covered in the container in which it is placed. This is what we used to do in the polymer technology laboratory long time ago. If there are new methods to preserve it, I shall be glad to know.
Thank you very much Dr. Nizar Matar. On your experience, can dr give one ratio of ammonia addition on NR like for 1L NR require how much ml Ammonia. Ist possible NR lost its binder character (sticky) when preserve with ammonia? Your guidance very helpful. Thank you dr.
As you know, a preservative is usually added in a very small quantity and this is what we do in formulations such as shampoos, artificial fruity juice...etc. (usually less than 1% of the total ingredients). My teachers in the polymer technology lab. did not tell me exactly how much they added but I guess that few drops were added to 1L of NR.
Of course, the aim is to preserve it & not to lose it or to lose any of its properties. Try 3 drops on 20 mL & leave it one week. If the result is encouraging, move to a larger volume in proportion.
