I am attempting to use shear-thickening fluid for jet polishing to enhance the MRR and the stability of the TIF. Is any good method to prepare the necessary shear-thickening fluid? Can you give me some suggestions? Thank you very much
Concerning systems with abrasive properties , there are particle based shear thickening systems (colloidal silica particles suspended in ethylene glycol or polyethylene glycol ).
The particles are generally selected from a number of the groups which include titanium oxide, calcium carbonate, cornstarch, synthetically and naturally occurring minerals, polymers or a mixture of these.
Carrier fluids can be water, ethylene glycol (EG) and polyethylene glycol (PEG). EG or PEG are the most widely used due to their combination of stability, high boiling point, polarity and non-flammable properties.
Take a look at the attached paper for more information.
