please let me know the method to perform XRD for laser ablation assisted nano-particles. As the concentration of nano-particles is too low and i done many experiments but could not find the XRD peaks for nano-particles
The following advices may help you to perform XRD analysis for a small amount of powder:
1- There is NO need to spread your sample on large area, keep the sample in the center of the holder only where the x-ray beam is focused.
2- Use a zero-background holder to reduce the effect of the holder on the spectra. You can buy or make such holder.
3- Spread a thin film of the powder evenly on the holder using a droplet of a liquid media, that is NOT reactive to the sample as well as the holder. You can use a tape to decide the right position and level of the film on the holder.
4- Use longer scan time to improve signal to background ratio.
5- Sometimes, you can mix your sample with another material just to fill the space of the ordinary holder. Such filler should not react with your sample and has a known spectra that is NOT overlapped with that expected for your sample.
