I wish to know if anyone could help me in understanding how to operate an engine in stratified mode. Do we need to go for double injection or can we depend fully on late injected fuel quantity.
In my opinion, "layered fuel injection" is the most promising in modern engine building, where an increased injection pressure (100 bar) ensures a more timely supply of fuel and its high-quality atomization.
Today I read a paper https://saemobilus.sae.org/content/03-11-02-0016/.
Here fuel is injected at the time of spark. THis was new information for me. In our experiments. If we retard the injection timing to that close to spark lot of CO is getting formed.
