I want to test zeolite catalysts in alkylation reactions for linear C6-C9 alkanes using with several exchanged metals. I want to use only one zeolitic support, but modulating its acidity.
By changing Si/Al ratio the acidity of zeolite changes. Moreover, addition of some heteroatoms can modify acidity.
Thank you dear prof. Toosi, but I need to mantain the same support with constant Si/Al.
If you want to prepare the support you must measure
Si/Al ratio by XRF and compare with the similar works or
determine Bronsted and Lewis sites by NH3 TPD and pyrridine IR.
You may try steaming at 500C to 700C for different periods of time ( say 6 -12 hrs) to moderate the acidity to different levels on the same zeolite.
Combination of ion exchange and steaming is also recommended. For instance ion exchanging with Ferrous ion not only moderates the impact of steaming on acidity, but also promotes thermal stability
I think you want to control Lewis and Bronsted acid sites on parent zeolite if i am right you just have to change the concentration of metal salt while preparing catalysts . Then find acidity of catalyst using Pyridine FTIR (to know nature of acid sites ) and NH3-TPD (to know strength of acid sites )
