Could be possibile to measure temperature variations on a metal surface by fiber optic NIR spectroscopy? We can't use pyrometer or thermal camera because the metal surface is enclosed in a box and there is only a small hole to reach the metal surface. The only way to reach the metal surface is the use of a standard fiber optic used for NIR spectroscopy. If the measurement is possible, Which effects can i see on the spectra changing the temperature of the metal surface? I suppose a shift of the peak.
You should search for black body illumination. In the range you are interested in the change in intensity should be monitorable. You cannot couple the thermal camera to a fibre?

You will find everything you need to calculate the shift in the maximum of the wavelength if you search the www or a textbook using the keyword black body illumination (Planck). Nevertheless experimental calibration should be performed. Your experiment/or the calibration also allows using a RTD's (resistance temperature detectors) which are easier to calibrate? (depending on the temperatur)
