I hope you are fine. It's been a while that in our laboratory, the UV-Vis-NIR Spectrometer for measuring the bandgap (Perkin Elmer Model: Lambda 950) is broken. It is showing a flat line in some wavelengths. The problem could not be solved even by changing the configuration such as PMT. At the same time, the users who are using the instrument for their film samples (every type except the powder), have faced no problem or error. I was wondering whether there is another way or preparation method to measure the bandgap of powder or solid samples (e.g. by embedding it as a film or whatever)? Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 we need to wait longer for the engineer's arrival.

There are alternative methods for measuring bandgaps, but they are often more suitable for films, like ellipsometry of tunneling spectroscopy (STS).

Well, that depends highly on the material, I don't see it specified in your question. If you can dissolve and spincoat your material, that is probably the easiest. If it's only dispersable, you would be required to remove the dispersion agent quantitatively.
If you have a sort of ceramic material, of course that doesn't work and the making of the film is an own branch of material science on its own.
