I insist on the relationship that can exist between the conception of the work and architectural quality perceived by the user. So I want to know what process should be adopted for an efficient measurement of the aesthetic values of buildings?
To me perceived quality of an architecture or a product or a service by measrured by using the defects with regards to dimensions of quality. For example dimensions of quality can be functionality, performance, suppotabilty etc.If it's defects free then the measure is 100.If it has the defects then the perceived quality with respect to a particular dimension is 100-weightage factor*no of defects. The weightage depends on experience, the classification of defects such as major or minor defects.
It is difficult to measure aesthetics value of building. Architectural planning should satisfy Owner's functional requirements and future requirements within given budget. Structural design sense will help in achieving economy in construction and may affect aesthetics view which an architect willing to provide. It is possible to provide minimum architectural treatment to the building ( making it as simple as possible ) considering functional as well as structural requirements with aim to reduce cost of architectural treatment. Unnecessary architectural treatment or special treatment for the aesthetic view can be measured in terms of cost. The percentage increase in cost due to such treatment can be considered as aesthetic value of building. Sometimes, aesthetic value of a building becomes most important due to location , special structure, surrounding environment and higher cost of land and structures.
I will give you a global idea about my subject, our buildings suffer from non architecture, there is a general feeling of uneasiness about the product space .No referent expresses, architectural quality is the least stressed aspect during, while and after the operation of the building.a monotony that can be considered sensory deprivation, which does not lead to a visual attention of pleasure, surprise and joy. To this end, my research is about the question: How to measure the aesthetic values of buildings for architectural quality?
Indeed I want to know why are we looking for the well-being of our buildings that are devoid of any architectural quality? Can the architectural aesthetic values of buildings be confused with the well-being of individuals? What process should be adopted for an efficient measurement of the aesthetic values of public buildings?
Currently i'm working on preparing the state of the art for my thesis to determine which method i should follow in my research .. I have difficulties in the referneces ! I ask you for help to guide me to people who work on architectural quality / aesthetics or give me names of references to allow me to continue my research!!
