In my work I need to determine the specific surface of ceramic foam. Since it has macro pores (in millimeter order) I can not use BET. I know some methods predict this item by a correlation or image processing. I want to know if there is a lab equipment to measure it directly?
The only experimental way is x-rays computed tomography with appropriate image reconstruction and 3D meshing. Else you can use models based on porosity, but you will never be accurate

it is more like a question over your question, but here it go: Would it be possible to set an experiment for measuring the pressure loss of a flow trhoug this foam and then correlating the pressure loss with the relative diameter and then with specific surface? using Ergun´s Equation?I think that the first part of Ergun equation is related with the pressure loss due to surface/viscosity.
Dear Ramon, I think we need specific surface area to validate Ergun's equation according to experimental pressure drop.
