Hi Daria, I am not sure if I got you, but I would ask you which techniques are you planning to use to explore the glutamate-induced changes, I mean if you are thinking to use antibody kits, seems you are expecting to measure fos-induction, for example? It depends on what type of change are you looking for (at what level: Gene expression? Currents? Excitability? Cell-activity induction? And so on). So, I think you need to define first what type of effector-induced glutamate activity you expect, and after that, which tools you have.

I am not sure myself; what I need is to show that the effector I use activates glutamate excitation or at least activates glutamate neurons. We have nothing that can show currents, but we can use antibodies, measure gene expression, or other molecular methods.

Also, I need to do this with serotoninergic neurons. Maybe you can also advice something?
