Ecological services provided reclamation of wasteland is an important issue to get more benefits. The benefits with respect to oxygen emission for human beings along with other parameters viz, soil repair, soil erosion loss, nutrient inputs, visit by wild animals and so on.
You need to convert those services into monetary form, usually based on the cost of losses, and almost always estimated based on modeling. Quite a few papers in Science and Nature in recent years do this at a global level, so you could look at their methods used in such work.
Unsure if it might help, but you might look at the gully treatment economic analysis (1989) in my researchgate. Monetary estimates associated with ES and restoration of various types has always been a challenge. In this example, various costs and benefits were analyzed over a 50 year horizon, showing net benefits related to habitat, timber thinnings and harvest, recreation, and reduction in sediment as estimated in costs to dredge sediment from downstream dams. If you dont find an exact example related to your specific ES and restoration proposals, using professional estimates may be best, and just get some advice or review of the values you estimate. True restoration is seldom immediate or complete, so include some funding for monitoring and maintenance.
