I'm trying to evaluate if an User Interface produces the feeling of cognitive overload in a person. Therefore I'm searching for a) a scale to ask for it and b)factors of an interface affecting cognitive overload (f.e. quantity of text, balance, etc.).

I have already found that Information / cognitive Overload can be implicitly measured through visual complexity and aesthetics (Harper et al. 2009) and will parametrize this using Ngo et al. 2000 Parameters of aesthetics, but I'm still searching for some surveys or scales which I could ask to my users and some more direct forms to measure information overload.

Scales like " The Information Overload Scale " or " Perceived Information Overload Scale" are too general for my porpoise, as they ask about general information overload and not the current produced by the Interface.

Maybe there is also another term, closely related to Information Overload / cognitive load which refers to this aspect?

Many thanks!
