I have a problem with my dissertation research in forming or producing PVA hydrogel with freeze-thaw method. After freeze-thaw treatment, PVA is drained in the incubator but still can not produce cubic-shaped hydrogel with semi-solid texture. The hydrogel that I produced can be seen in the attached picture. How could I form a cubic-shaped semi solid hydrogel?
Dear Dhiya Tsaniatri, you didn't gave much details about the operating parameters, temperature, number of cycles and time. Are you following a precise experimental procedure. My Regards
The operating parameters:
Temperature of immersed PVA : 90 C
Time immersed PVA : ±3 h
Concentration of PVA : 10%
Number of cycles and time : 1, 2 and 3 cycles ; 20 h freeze and 4 h thaw
For the operating parameters, my procedure based on this article with little modification as stated above.
The operating parameters :
Temperature of PVA dissolved : 90 C
Time of dissolved : ±3 h
Concentration of PVA :10%
Volume : 20 ml
Number of cycles and time : 1, 2 and 3 cycles : 20 h freeze and 4 h thaw
Drying in incubator : 37 C, 48 h
For the operatinv parameters, my procedure based on this article with little modification as stated above.
I don't think these are the right conditions, usually freezing at -20°C, thawing at+20°C. I will provide you sooner with some documents, meanwhile, find the original paper of Peppas (1991).
