I need to understand how calculations are done for the synthesis of zeolites( If possible for - Zeolite 4A )?
i) How to maintain Si/Al molar ratio to produce a single same zeolite for different types of reactants ? (for example how to maintain Si/Al ratio if we use different sources of silica for making zeolites)
- Also which ratio is used Si/Al ratio or SiO2/Al2O3 ratio?
ii) When Si/Al ratio is decided, how to figure out:
- mass of ingredients (for ex- Sodium Silicate, Sodium Aluminate)
- volume of mother liquor before hydrothermal treatment
- final mass of zeolite produced
iii) How to figure out the time and temperature exactly needed for synthesis of a particular
zeolite ?
You must identify Si/Al ration of 4A. Determine Si/Al ratio according to the SiO2/Al2O3. Each mole pure sodium silicate gives you one mole SiO2. Each mole sodium aluminate gives you half mole alumina.

Pls. go through this to initiate in zeolite synthesis
1. Go through all the precursors available for Alumina, silica source
2. Depending upon the composition of the source first identify mole, % of the Al, Si in available source
3. Read recipes from IZA synthesis for various zeolites
4. Mass of the ingredients will be known to you once you initiate and compare with what are your reactant(will be known as you are taking reactant composition) and how much Si, Al you got in product(ICP)
5. To get particular idea on temperature, you must perform zeolite synthesis at various time and temperature and do its XRD and match it with appropriate IZA recipe.
