Hey there! I am currently working with female estuarine crabs and I need to prepare 150 L (A LOT!) of artificial sea water for an experiment... It's a detoxification of trace metals' assay so I need to avoid cross contamination and everything needs to be previously cleaned with nitric acid. My biggest concern is that I don't have a lot of time to make it and I only have artificial sea salt (MarineMix for aquarium) and distilled water. I used to use an electric shaker with a 2 L Erlenmeyer but it's too slow... What should I do? Do you have any low-cost recomendation about the equipment I should buy? A recirculation pump and a bigger tank? I read you! thanks in advance!

Muhammad Ali thanks! in fact, the artificial sea salt I bought already has a nutrient erinchment similar to the original marine sea salt, so the enrichment issue it´s not a problem, rather than the volumes I have to prepare... but thanks for the articles! They are very helpfull as well!
For my experiments that require artificial sea water, I make it in 20 L carboys. Carboys are also available in 50 L and probably some other sizes. You can measure out the constituent reagents and keep them dry until you need them. You can then add the measured salts to the water. I have not had any solubility issues with artificial sea water at room temperature and sea level and I just shake the carboy by hand. If you are worried about the composition, I'd recommend an artificial sea water such as that in Table 2 of Berges et al. 2001: https://cpb-us-w2.wpmucdn.com/sites.uwm.edu/dist/6/103/files/2016/07/Berges_etal_2001a-2a5wooe.pdf. For trace metal work, you could leave out Metals Stock I and/or Metal Stock II. For some of my experiments, I need no nutrient artificial sea water so I leave out the nutrient and metal stocks from my artificial sea water for those experiments.
