Technical writing is the first and last impression of the researcher. It make the researchers sound and efficient. Some said it is improved by reading research articles while others said it is improved by writing. Please give your opinions.
In my humble opinion, the writing technique improves with continuous reading, when we read articles constantly, our writing skills will develop because we will pay attention to how these articles are arranged, especially the articles published in international journals because these journals follow special and strict instructions in writing. So our writing talent will be strengthened, and little by little we will pay attention to mistakes when writing and diagnose them easily. And of course, when we write we will make mistakes, but of course, we learn from our mistakes little by little until we have a high skill in writing, but no matter how refined our talent we keep making mistakes because this is a natural thing, as we are impossible to reach perfection, but the more we read the more we are able to write, and the chances of mistakes decreased. With my sincere gratitude, Doctor.
One of the very important things in writing research is choosing the appropriate language in writing, but what most researchers face is that they do not have the linguistic faculty to write, whether in the mother language or in foreign languages, especially English. to improve the technical language in writing, researchers must learn the rules of writing correctly through studying the basics of the language and by increasing their knowledge and reading of researchs published in this language.
I am a teacher of Technical Writing. I find that Technical Writing is most improved when we engage in real world functional writing. When we evaluate a product, make a recommendation report, develop end user documentation, and engage in similar genres of writing, we put into practice what we have read and we recreate the forms of other documents we have seen.
The short answer is both. Without theory and research our writing is aimless and wanders about bumping into things in the darkness. Without practical experience our head knowledge cannot improve and our understanding is weak. To grow as writers we must acquire theory and practice or apply that theory. This is essentially a form of Praxis as we write (practice), reflect (Theory), internalize (theoretically informed practice), and improve (theory into practice).

Agreed with Dr Manal Hadi Kanaan. And from time to time, I might ask students to point out which technical writing rules stand out in such a piece of writing. That helps see the structure of a given piece, including grammatical choices made. I did that when I taught TW, which helped students appreciate the legacy of TW and use it actively in their own writing.
Respected Dr. Dorota Zielinska, thank you very much for your contribution. The structure of a given piece, including grammatical choices made students sound and increase their skills.
