It is suggested that FTIR or Raman spectroscopy is quiet useful to identify Microplastics extracted from samples. But when fibers are microscopic in size , then technical issues rises. For FTIR, a minimum quantity in dry form is required. In biota samples, we may not get such minimum quantity. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Dear Abdu, very small particles can be easily characterized using a µFTIR. With this instument you will be amble to characterize particles lower than 20µm. With nanoRaman and nanoFTIR you can reach a higher size resolution and thus allow to characterize also nanoparticles.

What Carlo Giacomo Avio mentions is right, the smallest particles requiere either µFTIR or more sophisticated instruments. However, these instruments are very expensive.
