Testing item is not only associated with a difficulty level, but also associated with an importance level. Therefore, an item with high difficult level may or may not be of high importance level. For example, some low difficult-level items are associated with some basic skills (class-required skills) and teachers usually pay more attentions on those test-takers who fail in passing those "basic skills" items because some teachers believe those basic-skills items are of more importance (level). In this essay, the (testing) item importance level is defined first and then we will look into the (testing) items' importance levels in General Total Score (GTS) showing how GTS consistently takes items' importance levels into account in its measuring test-takers' performance.
