It depends which elements of ESV you want to know about. You can do it per tree as I did for seed dispersal service or using quadrats if you want to know about contribution of seeds from the seed bank

Thank you Pegman. My interest is to adopt/adapt a procedure to estimate the monetary value of the different land use types in a forest area. Most studies used for instance instance zero value for bare land per hectare per year. Like that how to calculate the rest land use types per year per hectare service value.

Thank you Sony Baral for the article and it applied economic valuation techniques. However, my interest is using model like InVEST or other, there is a technique of estimating the ESV of the ecosystem per hectare per year basis to estimate which ES is increasing or decreasing and why.

As you said TEEB is very general and most of the research did in Ethiopia used it. However, sites specific ESV, you have to assess local market of the direct marketing like pole prices, charcoal price, agricultural product. These community price might get in CSA. For regulating ESV like soil erosion, habitat quality and others, you didn't have option at this time in Ethiopia rather TEEB. For example China and Nigeria have their own ecosystem service valuation data in a country level in each land use types but in Ethiopia we did not have and work hard to triggered each ESV data.

Abresh, thank you for the direction, still the available estimation way (adopting of TEEB) is not sufficient to calculate the ESV of a given ecosystems. My interest is to have direction to prepare our own ES estimation per hectare per year. As you said, the provisioning services have no big challenges-market price can be applied. But, the other indirect services lack clear mechanisms of estimating ESV.

There are different methods of ESV in economics like choice, hedonic method etc having their own limitation but the best way to estimate indirect ESv, should have each LULC ESV at national level. This will be request deep investigations by the expert at national level who have deep know how of ecological economics and finally validate and approve the regulatory body. This is what China and Nigeria did.

For the time being for our indirect ESV , we have three option. 1) the economic method like choice 2)use TEEB 3) national level estimation by discussion of the expert, which need time and finance.
