Recently, I encountor a question like the title, When i simulate a interference fit model, i want to get the narmal force of the contace surface, so i use the CFN, but my the normal of my surface is y,so i try to get the CFN2,but it was smaller than CFN1,I had tried many times ,but it did work .
So i want to know how can i get the right normal force ,is not my method right ,Then i want to use coulomb's friction law to caculate the friction coefficient.
If you know something about it please share with me ,i would very grateful.

you can easily obtain the stress values in the interface by calculating the contact forces reported by Abaqus. then if you know the surface area, you can obtain the normal forces.

Abaqus can report the contact pressure CPRESS, which should be normal by definition.
@What i want to get is total normal force ,not cpress, and i know hoe to get the CFN ,But it seems wrong, just like the title.

I will suggest using the cpress which states the maximum contact pressure and contact width (use it to find the pressure at different points along the width of the contact)
then use one of the Hertzian contact pressure formulas such as line or point contact (it depends on your case of the contacted bodies). This way you should be able to calculate the total normal force which causes this contact pressure and contact width
