I am trying to convert the Moffett Field dataset into a mat file or text file. I have a dataset with extension .bip which can be opned in ENVI software but i am unable to convert it into a mat or text files. Actually i want to get the the spatial values of each band as we have the values in mat files of other available hyperspectal datasets
If you have ENVI+IDL, you can try to do the following.
1. Under ENVI GUI you must do export to IDL variable, for example like 'test_data'
2. Now going to IDL Workbench. There IDL Console. Type the following commands
OPENW,2,'E:\filename.txt'
PRINTF,2,test_data
CLOSE,2
After doing that, you'll get txt file holds all values and all bands
If you want single band (for example first band) into single file.
OPENW,2,'e:\band_test_data.txt'
PRINTF,2,test_data[1,*,*]
CLOSE,2

You can extract the spectral information from the hyperspectral images using the Region of Interest tool in ENVI. You can save each pixel location and all the band values in an ascii file that you can open in notepad, excel or in Matlab etc..
