I am new to the Shimadzu GCMS-QP2010 Ultra. The machine passed a system check report, and then I tried testing acetone injection with a DB-5 column. After ~2-3 minutes, when the column temperature starts rising above the initial 100 deg. C setting, the purge flow rises above its initial setting of 3 mL/min, and a "CAR1 purge leak" warning is displayed. If I reset of ignore the warning, it will return within ~1 min, and the purge flow will continue increasing above 14 mL/min.
Tightening the column did not help. I will try reconnecting the column.
How can I troubleshoot this issue?
I solved this problem by changing the purge flow settings which were accidentally set way too high.
Dear Christopher, I had the same instrument and the same problem daysplay tome today. Are you using the instrument with helium or hydrogen as carrier gas? we recently change the carrier gas to hydogren and today i had the same warning error, so I'm thinking it should be realted to this. Which are the purge flow values that you set to solve the error? Thank you so much for your future answer

We are using Helium. The problem should be able to be temporarily solved by turning off the purge flow completely, directly from the instrument control panel. But my problem was caused by the method setting in the computer program, where the purge flow was accidentally set extremely high, I forget, maybe around 20 mL / min. I simply had to change that value back to 3 mL / min.
Did you try changing the purge flow rate to a constant 3 ml / min, and then selecting "Download Initial Parameters", as shown in the attached image?
