Though there are many journal papers about initial cable forces, but I am still not able to understand fully. I am unable to form influence matrix for " force equilibrium method". Is there any text book or any reference which has a simple example ( Pylon with 2 or 3 cables)? And how to calculate target bending moments?
Usually to have a predesign of a cable stayed bridge I first run a model considerng in the points of connections of the cable and the deck as simple supports, onces I have the reactions I calculated more or less what is the area of cables that I need in order to have a cero defomartion of the deck by dead load. Having this in mind you can apply a force displacement matrix to reach the force of the cable you need in each stage of construction.
If you are interested, I wrote a paper for bowstring bridges (arch bridge) that can give you an idea of how this (force * stiffness = displacement) matrix works also for cable stayed bridges, I can also provide to you an academic example of cable stayed bridge in spanish if you need.

initial cable forces are tricky to obtain. These forces could be arranged to satisfy different requirements. For instance, you can choose a set of cable forces in a way that the final displacement of the deck under the permanent loads zeros out. Or you can set the forces in a way that yields a certain run of moments of the deck, limiting the maximum moment formed in the deck.
therefore, as the aim of cable forces are different, there are different ways to optimize the cable pretension forces. You can use Bridge software or MiDAS software towards that aim.
