"Hi everyone, I recently came across a study discussing the 'sigmoid notch sign' on head CT as a potential marker for differentiating between transverse sinus thrombosis and congenitally atretic sinuses in patients with absent transverse sinus flow on MR venography. The study highlighted a sensitivity of 91% and a specificity of up to 86%.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the following:

  • Have any of you implemented the sigmoid notch sign in your diagnostic practice? If so, what has your experience been regarding its reliability and utility in clinical settings?
  • What challenges did you face when training staff to recognize this sign, and do you have any tips for effectively integrating this into routine imaging protocols?
  • Are there other imaging markers you find particularly useful for diagnosing transverse sinus conditions?
  • Thank you for sharing your insights!"
