In many papers, we can find the conclusion like this, the joint inversion will perform better resolution than any other single method. However, I do not think so. The example stated as follow,
the inversion resolution from Method A is RA;
and the resolution from Method B is RB.
We assume that RA>RB.
I think the resolution from the joint methods will be between the RA and RB.
i.e. RA>RJ>RB
in other words, if method A can achieve a better resolution and method B obtain a poor resolution. the joint method A and B will never get a better resolution even than that from the method A.
So how to evaluate the quality of the joint inversion and how to choose the method to employ the joint inversion so that we can achieve a better inverse solution?
