Hi everyone! From my research, I noted that when it comes to the evaluation of DM and KM, these two components are being evaluated in a separate entity. Are there any integrated DM-KM evaluation method that I might have missed out? Looking forward to your replies. Cheers.

I think they are different, but can be used as integrated part. DM is usually used to extract information by mining data. From it, knowledge can be enhanced. On the contrary, KM is considered as a broader aspect, where knowledge or information can obtained by using different tools and techniques, not necessarily only DM.
To understand the theoritical difference, please follow the papers:

As you know that knowledge management has several dimensions including the "Technology". Under this dimension, you can apply different types of data mining techniques and rely on their evaluation metrics though to evaluate the overall knowledge management task.

If you have a classification task, then you can evaluate the classification algorithm using, e.g., accuracy, ROC area, F-Measure, and Confusion Matrix (there are many others). In contrast, if you are dealing with a regression task, you could use Correlation coefficient and Root mean squared error to evaluate your predictive model.

Thank you for your inputs. From my research, I find that there is a gap in the evaluation cycle of DM-KM . To date, the evaluation is treated in a single entity. Given that the output of KM is dependant on DM -- should the evaluation then be integrated? This is the question that I am trying to unearth. Thank you for the journal links, will check it out. I meant that the DM approaches are used in KM domain to solve special tasks. Performing the DM's techniques properly, say having 90% accurcy and 86% ROC, would influence the quality of solving the KM problem. Meaning that evaluating DM approaches are useful to evaluate the quality of the KM task.
